Irdeto, Amino and Anevia hatch DVB over IP solution

September 10, 2007

From Colin Mann in Amsterdam

Irdeto, provider of content security for digital TV, IPTV and mobile networks; together with Amino, IPTV platform supplier, and Anevia, supplier of IPTV and VOD servers have revealed a joint IPTV solution that enables telcos to provide existing DVB services to their customers via their IP networks.

In addition, CATV and MMDS operators with DVB-C technology or Satellite operators with DVB-S technology can offer the service by transparently converting their full channel package from DVB to an IP Multicast (SPTS) service direct to the subscriber. This will increase the penetration of their existing pay TV services by adding new subscribers and increasing revenue. The telco can add a valuable service to their existing telephony and data services permitting them to offer triple play to their subscribers with a minimum of investment and effort.
