Digital + slows subs loss

November 9, 2010

Reporting as a unit of media conglomerate Prisa for the first time, pay-TV operator Digital + played up the success of its PVR proposition, the increase in ARPU and a slowing loss of subscribers.

In September, Digital + had 1,772,677 subs, down 73,100 in the nine month period reported compared with a loss of 135,600 in the same period last year. It has 245,940 subs for its iPlus DVR service and ARPU was E41.10, up 4.7 per cent year-on-year. Subscriber revenue was E688.7 million, down 9.5 per cent, but total sales were up at E817.5 million, boosted by a strong advertising performance up 14.5 per cent at E325 million (doubtless helped by the removal of ads from the national public broadcasters).

Over all Prisa group had sales of E2.3 billion for the nine months to September, down 5.3 per cent.
