AirTies innovates HDTV home wireless

November 25, 2010

AirTies has won a significant order from Turkey’s TTNET to supply its innovative set-top box and clever IPTV wireless solution for distributing HDTV signals around the home. AirTies’ home gateway supplies one of its Air 7120 high-def boxes along with its 4420 video bridging devices, taking advantage of any DNLA-enabled consumer items in the home, and wirelessly linking all of the potential items to an IP-connected TV sets. TTNET, a division of Turk Telecom, say their plans could see more than 6m ADSL customers using AirTies equipment.

At the same time AirTies is making a major push into international markets from its Istanbul base. It has, for example, appointed one of the UK’s main consumer electronics distributors (MicroP) to start development work in the UK for its product range. Similar activity will then roll out internationally. Shipping to the UK will start in the New Year.

The aim for AirTies’ product range is the seamless wireless distribution of content throughout the home, and the company has spent considerable time and effort engineering a simple “one touch” set-up installation for consumers. AirTies uses 5GHz 802.11n wireless transmission and patented Mesh Technology at its core, plus dynamic channel management to overcome local interference issues from the likes of Microwave units, long the bugbear of less efficient systems.

Jim Lomax, Executive VP of Sales & Marketing at AirTies says: “The market for wireless home networking is immense and the potential uses of this technology for both operators and consumers is only just beginning to emerge.”
