Research: US mobile TV subs to double by 2013

January 5, 2011

According to RNCOS research, the US mobile TV/video market is anticipated to double by 2013, representing a CAGR of around 22 per cent from 2009, mainly resulting from operators pouring investment into mobile TV, declining service prices, and availability of desirable content. Consumers demanding improved multimedia services other than emails or mobile gaming are also adding to the growth.

RNCOS says that the US mobile TV market is still at its infancy stage and most MNOs (Mobile Network Operators) are adopting a wait-and-see attitude towards the technology that has already flourished in various countries such as South Korea, Japan, and Italy.
