January 31, 2011

Appear TV, a global provider of next-generation head-ends for broadcast and IP television, has been selected for a Red Herring Global 100 Award, an award given every year to the world’s top 100 private technology companies. Appear TV won the award for its innovative head-ends which are designed for modularity, high density and flexibility. The award winners were announced at the Red Herring Global 100 forum on Wednesday 26 January.

“We’re delighted to have been recognised by Red Herring as one of the top 100 private technology companies in the world,” said Carl Walter Holst, CEO at Appear TV. “By continuing to design and build a large range of plug-in modules for our head-ends we provide solutions that exactly match customer requirements and also enable us to provide new functionality moving forward.”

Red Herring’s annual list of top private technology companies identify new and innovative technology companies that are meticulously evaluated through careful analysis of financial data and other criteria including quality of management, execution strategy and dedication to research and development. The awards are open to finalists or winners of Red Herring Asia, Europe or North America from the previous three years.

“Choosing the best out of the previous three years was by no means a small feat,” said Alex Vieux, Chairman of Red Herring. “After rigorous contemplation and discussion, we narrowed down our list from 1,200 potential companies to 200 finalists. Trying to get it down to 100 companies was a task upon itself. Appear TV should be extremely proud of its achievement, the competition was difficult.”
