TRAI: 2014 new deadline for India cable switch

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has suggested June 2014 as the deadline for all cable operators to move to digital television signals, in its revised recommendations to the ministry of information & broadcasting.
The ministry had originally proposed March 2015 as the year for shifting all television signals to the digital mode. In its revised recommendations, TRAI has suggested the four metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai should shift to digital cable by December 31 this year. For cities which have a population of over one million, it has suggested December 2012 as the timeline.
