Sir Howard Stringer, Sony’s chairman and CEO, was in Mumbai last week for the ceremonial opening of Sony’s Media Technology Centre in the city. He told guests that Sony was aiming for 30 per cent of their India sales to come from 3D based products by 2012.  Sir Howard said that global 3D sales were likely to be worth $12 billion by the end of next year.

Sony’s new Media Technology Centre would help train local filmmakers, broadcasters and industry professionals in HD and 3D techniques, and Sir Howard said: “The Sony Media Technology Centre will provide a forum for us to offer our latest High Definition & 3D technologies, products and know-how and contribute to the further growth and development of the Indian entertainment industry.”
