SPORT2 and UPC to broadcast El Clásico in 3D

SPORT2, the sports channel operated by Chello Central Europe, will broadcast the legendary, upcoming El Clásico on April 16th, live in 3D, through UPC’s digital cable television networks, in the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic and Hungary. The match between top Spanish football clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona, marks a significant premier, the beginning of domestic 3D TV broadcasts in the Czech Republic and Slovakia; as well as a continued commitment for the latest technology, from the largest cable operator in Hungary, where UPC has already transmitted the previous match in 3D to its customers.

This is the first time ever that a live 3D television broadcast available for a wider public is realised in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. Subscribers of UPC Digital package can watch the match through the HD mediabox provided by the service provider, with a new television set capable of receiving 3D broadcast. The match will also be made available on demand in UPC’s VOD service, right after the live event.

In the Czech Republic, an exclusive VIP showcase event will also be organised in a 3D cinema for sports and show business notorieties, to celebrate the first live 3D TV broadcast in the country.
