Italy’s leading commercial broadcaster Mediaset has signed a commercial deal with Vodafone Italia, with the goal of providing bundled TV-telephone services to existing and new customers.
The joint offer of services will include the sale of smart cards for the Mediaset Premium pay-TV service available on DTT, as well as ADSL broadband connections. The agreement is valid until June 30th and will provide Mediaset Premium customers with a discount for the ADSL connection, as well as a six-month free period. On the other hand, Vodafone Italia customers will get four months free viewing of the Mediaset Premium offering.
The agreement comes only months from a deal signed by DTH provider Sky Italia with broadband operator Fastweb.
In a related development, Italian news agency Ansa is now providing news, photos and video material on daily events to customers of the Vodafone TV Connect service, 24 hours a day. TV Connect, through the Vodafone Station, brings the Internet on the TV as well as all personal multimedia content such as photos, music and video.
