July 5, 2011

Masstech, provider of powerful tools for media asset management, bridging workflows and high-speed transcoding will showcase the new Emerald version 7.5 Lite Edition and Sapphire v2.0 channel-in-a-box playout server at SMPTE 2011 in Sydney from 19 to 22 July.

Brad Redwood, Vice President International Sales and Marketing at Masstech Group said: “Emerald LE and Sapphire deliver breakthrough performance on one common platform to make digital archiving, HQS transcoding and content management available to the mainstream broadcast market. Together, they offer a complete end-to-end workflow solution that consolidates broadcast operations and digitally preserves content for file-based workflow management and playout.”

Emerald version 7.5 LE

Emerald defines the new price/performance benchmark for all-in-one advanced digital archiving, HQS transcoding and content management. Doubling up as a mini MAM, Emerald digitally preserves precious footage using efficient file based archiving where scaling is not required. Emerald comes with active integration to various end-points including video servers and NLE’s with automated workflows in Production, Newsrooms and mini-MAM broadcast applications.

Integrating tightly into popular Newsroom Computer Systems (NRCS) like AP-ENPS and AVID’s iNEWS via Media Object Server (MOS) protocol, newsroom staff can research archived content, search slugs linked to video archives, browse archived content, and quickly make shot selections without moving from their desk.

Packaged for out-of-the-box operation, the Emerald turnkey package includes server hardware, LTO library, software and first year’s support. Alternatively, Emerald can be accessorized and built to order making for easy implementation. Masstech’s Fee-FREE unlimited storage licensing policy means Emerald has virtually infinite storage capability.

Key differentiating features

– Broadcast HSM for LTO tape archiving
– ‘MOS’ interface to iNEWS and AP-ENPS
– Avid ISIS, Unity, Interplay Archive, DET and DHM support
– Apple FCP interface
– Built-in HQS Transcoding Engine for Interoperability
