Kabel Deutschland grows premium RGUs 20%

Kabel Deutschland says it grew premium TV RGUs by 209,000 to 1.316 million as of June 30, 2011, representing an annual growth rate of 18.9 per cent. During the first quarter, the Company added 52.2 thousand units, an increase of 4.1 per cent quarter over quarter.

The number of Internet and phone subscribers grew by 20.7 per cent or 246,300 year on year to 1.434 million subscribers. The Company added 51,500 thousand Internet and Phone subscribers in the first quarter ended June 30, 2011. KDH believes it captured 83 per cent of the net adds in its footprint.

Revenues increased by 5.8 per cent to €€412.1 million compared to €€389.5 million in the first quarter of the prior fiscal year; revenue growth is up from 5.3 per cent in the previous quarter ended March 31, 2011.

Adjusted EBITDA grew by 9.8 per cent to €€193.4 million compared to €€176.2 million in the previous year first quarter. Capex was €€77.2 million (versus €€61 million in the same period of the prior year), representing 18.7 per cent of revenues.

Operating free cash flow amounted to €€116.2 million. The company posted a net profit of €€8.5 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2011, comparing with a net loss of €€2.5 million in the same period last fiscal year.

Total Net Debt as of June 30, 2011 decreased by €€61.5 million to €€2,803 billion.

Total RGUs amounted to 12.8 million on June 30, 2011, up 4.9 per cent or 595.7 thousand from previous year. Uptake of premium TV, Internet and phone services increased New Services RGUs to 31.0 per cent of total RGUs from 26.7 per cent in the prior year’s first quarter. The RGU per subscriber ratio grew to 1.47 on June 30, 2011 compared to 1.38 one year ago.

In the first quarter of 2011/2012, the blended Internet and Phone ARPU per subscriber decreased to €€28.29 from €€29.51 in the previous year first quarter. The total blended monthly TV ARPU per subscriber for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 rose to €€9.70, up €0.28 from €€9.42 compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. The total blended monthly ARPU per subscriber for the first quarter reached €€13.98 – up by 6.9 per cent year on year.
