24/7 High TV 3D for 1° West

October 27, 2011

Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSBc) has confirmed the launch of High TV 3D, a 24/7 channel for the Nordic region, on TSBc’s THOR 6 satellite, located at 1 degree West, one of Europe’s fastest-growing orbital hotspots.

High TV 3D will initially reach audiences in Norway only and will distributed to viewers via Canal Digital’s DTH satellite-TV service as part of the standard family package.

High TV 3D, one of the first 3D TV entertainment channels to broadcast worldwide, is the first such channel to be launched in the Nordic region. Its launch follows successful trials and one-off broadcasts (both free-to-air and subscriber-based) of live sports events.

Cato Halsaa, Vice President and CEO, TSBc, noted that 3D had the unique ability to engage and personally connect the viewer to content, and that continuous technology enhancements were making it easier for viewers to experience 3D content. “Without a doubt, 3DTV is already starting to make an impact in the broadcast market and the arrival of 3DTV provides an additional dimension to broadcast’s ever-changing landscape,” he added.
