Zeebox live on iPad

October 28, 2011

Social TV service Zeebox, developed by former BBC iPlayer developer Anthony Rose, is now live on iPad where it is the “App Of The Week.”

Zeebox shows users information, apps and further downloads about shows they are watching, creates live links to the material discussed in shows and lets users follow show-based social network chat and see what their friends are watching. Viewers can also stream the shows Twitter feed via the client, which has the appearance of an EPG.

Monetizing the service is so far limited to a commission on sales directed to iTunes and other downloads. Zeebox is undecided, yet, on whether it will sell broadcasters the data on activity around their programmes or whether it will sell advertising around apps to the advertisers in a show.

Web, Android and iPhone versions are to follow.
