SimpleStream TVPlayer launching in Q2

March 20, 2012

From Nik Roseveare at IP&TV World Forum

Streaming solutions provider SimpleStream has announced that it is to launch its own OTT consumer television platform called TVPlayer in Q2 2012 with a focus on live TV

Having recently secured additional rounds of investment, SimpleStream will use its proprietary OTT technologies and CDN infrastructure to launch TVPlayer initially in the UK this summer with plans to move into Europe and beyond in 2013.

TVPlayer will offer premium UK channels across multiple devices giving the end user total control and choice over how, when and where they view their TV. The rich EPG that has been developed in house, will enable the user to watch live TV, scroll backwards and catch-up on content they have may have missed in the last 7 days. Offering similar functionality to that of TiVo and YouView without the need for a set top box. The final channel line up will be announced in due course.
