Miramax, UKTV in carriage deal

March 29, 2012

Global film and television studio Miramax and multichannel broadcaster UKTV have reached a licensing agreement under which a number of the studio’s hit films will be made available to UKTV subscribers across its basic pay and DTT channels in the UK and Ireland.

“UKTV has a proven record of delivering high-quality feature films to its subscribers and we are delighted that the Miramax library, which offers one of the world’s leading collections of high-end feature films, will become part of UKTV’s market-leading mix,” said Danny Goldman, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales, Europe for Miramax. “This is the first major, multi-title linear deal for Miramax in the UK and Ireland, and we are very pleased to continue growing Miramax’s direct relationships in the market.”

Alexandra Finlay, Head of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, UKTV, said the films would be a “fantastic addition to UKTV’s general entertainment offering”.
