LG Smart TV deal for Perform sports

April 16, 2012

LG Electronics (LG) has agreed a partnership with UK-based digital sports media company Perform, provider of LIVESPORT.TV, an application that will deliver thousands of hours of live and on demand sports content to LG’s CINEMA 3D Smart TV.

“This marks a significant partnership for LG,” said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company. “Perform’s depth of sports content and ability to deliver a compelling customer service will ensure our Smart TV customers will have access to some of the best digital sports content available.”

The deal allows LG’s CINEMA 3D Smart TV to offer a new content channel for European sports fans. This includes a range of live and VoD content from a number of leading sports including European and South American football leagues, World Snooker, Australian Rules Football (AFL), PSA Squash, Mixed Martial Arts, Handball, Darts, Hockey, Tennis, Rugby Union, Rugby League and Pool plus a number of one-off box office sporting events from sports such as Boxing.

LG will offer LIVESPORT.TV in five European regions: the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy, with each region in its own language. Live sports will be made available via a number of flexible subscription options, while all VoD content can be accessed for free.

“We are very excited to be integrating LIVESPORT.TV across LG’s CINEMA 3D Smart TV. The growth and adoption of Connected TVs means they are fast becoming the mainstay in living rooms around the world. This partnership ensures that our digital sports content is now available to LG’s CINEMA 3D Smart TV customers across Europe,” said Oliver Slipper, Joint-CEO at Perform.

With 2D to 3D conversion function built in to LG’s CINEMA 3D Smart TV, sports fans will be able to view all of LIVESPORT.TV’s content in 3D.
