Antena 3 TV, the second largest commercial TV group in Spain, is jumping on the pay TV bandwagon with the launch of its first pay OTT service, Modo Salon Premium, that allows viewers access to a wide offer of TV series and premieres on demand.

The service, available through the channel’s website, has three packages: a monthly subscription of €4 for premieres; a monthly subscription of €2 for other content (not premieres) and a pay-per-access for specific content for less than €1. Payments may be made through SMS message, a telephone call, credit card, Paypal or a direct billing operator.

This service forms part of a global 3.0 strategy developed by Antena 3 TV. Gonzalo Rielo, Chief of Technology at Antena 3 points out that “we launched our 3.0 strategy three years ago aimed at making all our content available to all devices as the new digital media are changing the way of watching TV”.

It is estimated that over 25 per cent of Spaniards use Internet to watch films or TV videos. Gonzalo Rielo claims that after YouTube, Antena 3 TV has become “the largest provider of Spanish video clips with 60 million videos a month”. To strengthen the Antena 3 multiplatform strategy, he concludes that “when we promote a TV series and we release it on the website we increase by 10 to 15 per cent our audience and improve loyalty to our productions”.
