Sky1 commissions more original content

June 22, 2012

Sky1 has commissioned a new eight-part drama set in a London fire station from the company behind Hustle and Life on Mars. It was one of two new dramas for Sky 1 unveiled this week, along with Moonfleet, a two-part family drama adapted by Company Pictures from the classic John Meade Falkner story.

The commissions are part of Sky’s commitment to increase spending on UK-originated content by 50 per cent to £600 million by 2014.

Comedies Moone Boy, starring and co-written by Chris O’Dowd, and Charlie Brooker’s detective spoof A Touch of Cloth have both been recommissioned for further series although neither first run has aired on Sky 1.
