Humax reveals YouView box

July 4, 2012

Humax, the digital set-top box specialist, has revealed its digital television recorder for YouView, the brand new, subscription-free digital TV and catch-up service that seamlessly combines over 100 digital TV and radio channels with internet catch-up and video on-demand services, including BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4OD and Demand 5. The Humax DTR-T1000 is expected to retail at around £299 and will go on sale by  the end of July 2012 with John Lewis, Currys, Amazon, Comet, Argos and key independent electrical retailers including the Euronics group and Richer Sounds.

The Humax DTR-T1000 is your gateway to a fantastic range of live, on-demand and catch-up TV content from YouView. With its unique electronic programme guide viewers can scroll back up to seven days to catch-up on their favourite shows.  Users can move effortlessly between live digital channels and internet content from some of the UK’s leading broadcasters.

The feature-packed easy to set-up box provides instant, subscription-free access to some of the best TV and radio through a rooftop aerial, including incredible high definition content from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. Connecting the DTR-T1000 to your broadband router makes all the internet-enabled services available too, through the same on-screen interface.

The Humax DTR-T1000 is also a digital TV recorder, with the ability to pause and rewind live TV and offering a range of features that allow you to capture and store your favourite shows at the touch of a button. These include series recording, split recording, green button trailer booking and smart recording to resolve clashes. You can record up to two channels at the same time while watching other content, and store up to 300 hours of standard definition and 125 hours of high definition programmes on the 500GB hard drive.

Setting up the Humax DTR-T1000 is extremely straightforward. The box comes with everything you need to get started, including the remote control, batteries, HDMI and Ethernet cables. A ‘Guide to Get Connected’ and the ‘YouView Guide’ explaining the key features are also included.

Graham North, Humax Commercial Director, commented: “YouView is set to transform the way we watch TV in the UK and I believe it will be the catalyst to households fully embracing a hybrid of the best TV content and internet-enabled services.  The future of digital TV is about making technologies work seamlessly together and through the launch of the DTR-T1000 Humax is playing a key role in making this a reality.”

Humax is the lead innovation partner for YouView, which is backed by some of Britain’s biggest names in TV and broadband – the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Arqiva, BT and TalkTalk – and brings a fully integrated service to homes via a broadband internet connection, television aerial and a YouView set top box.
