Vision247 wins connected broadcast innovation awards at IBC2012

September 14, 2012

Broadcast specialist Vision247, has been named as a double winner in the ConnectedWorld.TV Awards 2012 for two separate technical achievements supporting television and video consumption. The awards celebrate a pioneering, innovative technology company in the business of providing ‘content everywhere’.

At the awards, presented in Amsterdam during IBC2012, Vision247 saw off considerable competition from more than 100 international organisations to win ‘Best New Content Delivery Network (CDN) and Service Delivery Technology’ for its Freeview Connected TV platform, and ‘Best TV Service Delivery – Applications, Techniques and Toolset’ for its XtremeIPTV platform. XtremeIPTV was also nominated by the judges and received a special commendation as a technology which could have the ‘biggest impact on the business of content everywhere’.

Chris Boeree, Chairman of BPL Broadcast Ltd, for IBC Connected World, said: “Connected Technologies are revolutionising the way in which content is being created, distributed and consumed and seems set to transform the global broadcast industry over the coming years.”

The award for ‘Best New CDN, Networks and Service Delivery Technology’ highlighted advances made by Vision247 to manage, manipulate and present streamed and on-demand content. In late 2011 Vision247 became the first company to launch IP-delivered live channels to Freeview HD devices implementing the latest IPTV and MHEG standards. This gave channels access to the UK’s huge Freeview audience at a fraction of the cost of DVB-T distribution and the potential to enrich linear channels with compelling interactive features such as dynamic real-time data and video on demand. The award celebrates this real, market proven convergence of linear channels and on-demand interactivity, all delivered over the internet to the main EPG of the biggest broadcast platform in the UK, being also the biggest singular DTH EPG platform worldwide.

The ConnectedWorld Awards also recognised in Vision247 an innovative technology company which provides the platforms and infrastructure to create the new and secure routes to market required for a sustainable connected content industry. For this reason it was awarded top prize for ‘TV Service Delivery – Applications, Techniques and Toolset’ for the XtremeIPTV™ online video platform for IP television and over-the-top (OTT) internet delivered television.

Vision247’s XtremeIPTV™ offers easy to use tools which enable content owners to deliver high quality, optimised internet video streaming to new audiences.  Critically, it then enables them to monetise that online video with full content security and any combination of ad funded, PPV, pay-as-you-go and/or subscription based offerings. From audience facing apps, configurable media player to content management, subscription and payment, administration and reporting, XtremeIPTV™ provides connected broadcasters with the most complete, end-to-end solution for any type of IPTV services.

John Mills, CEO, Vision247, said: “It is fantastic to see such industry recognition for the hard work and ground breaking skills and ingenuity of Vision’s engineers. They are driving forward what is achievable through connected viewing, making the latest content easy to access and highly interactive. In this way we are equally supporting and challenging content owners to redefine the viewing experience.”
