Chellomedia acquires Cosmo TV Latin

September 20, 2012

Chellomedia, the international content division of Liberty Global, has acquired full ownership of Cosmo TV, the Latin American channel previously run as a joint venture with Hearst Corporation.

Cosmo TV Latin America is a 24-hour channel offering movies, series and lifestyle programming for young women in Spanish-speaking Latin America. The channel was launched in March 2002 and reaches in excess of 10 million TV households via satellite and cable TV. Chellomedia has acquired the remaining 50 per cent interest previously held by Hearst.

Meanwhile, Tvinci has announced that its Online TV Platform has been selected by Chellomedia, the international content division of Liberty Global, to power an online movie service offering for Film1, the Dutch premium television service. The service, Film1 Go, will allow subscribers to enjoy Film1’s library of international movie content on a number of devices managed through the Tvinci back-end, including iPhone, iPad, Android smartphone/tablets and PC/Mac, with more devices to be added in the near future.
