Alticast, an expert in interactive TV open standard solutions and Icareus, a company providing products for a better TV experience, have conducted HbbTV trials at TVP in Warsaw, Poland. The success of these trials demonstrate the viability of HbbTV for public television in Poland and the capabilities of both the Icareus CS100 play-out carousel & HbbTV applications, and Alticast’s middleware solution. This combination is suitable for deployment in both the Polish DTT market as well as all of Europe.
Alticast and Icareus have had a long partnership over many years and are now expanding this relationship to encompass the HbbTV market.
“Our middleware solution supports HbbTV because we believe it will continue to grow in importance across Europe as the industry looks for a standard that can truly unite traditional broadcast TV with the new wave of services delivered over broadband,” said Thomas Jung, CMO, Alticast. “It’s exciting to be working with such a trusted partner as Icareus to trial out HbbTV services in Poland and we’re really enthusiastic about the positive results. Connected TV’s march continues as consumers crave more exciting experiences and we fully expect HbbTV to play a huge part in this trend in Europe and beyond.”
