Google TV France arrives on Sony

September 28, 2012

Google TV has launched on Sony’s €200 STB in France. The STB can be connected by ethernet or WiFi and for €299 consumers can chose a device with integrated Blu-ray player.

Earlier in the year, Google and Sony announced plans to launch the Internet Player in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Mexico and Netherlands, as well as the US, UK and France, expanding its footprint worldwide.

Coinciding with the French launch, new partnerships have been signed with providers such as France Télévisions, as well as news channels euronews and France 24. Frederic Bonnard, head of new media France 24, RFI and MCD, said, “The AEF media have always been forerunners in new media and we are pleased and proud that our offer will be available on Google TV the day of its launch in France. This is an important step to increase our influence in the world and reach new audiences.”
