adRise selects Highwinds CDN for video ad streaming to connected TVs

November 7, 2012

Highwinds has announced that adRise is leveraging its CDN (content delivery network) to stream films and TV content as well as video ads to viewers of over-the-top (OTT) premium content applications on Connected TVs (CTVs), set-top boxes, game consoles and mobile devices in more than 100 countries.

adRise’s free branded platforms for advertising distribution and monetization support all the major platforms – Xbox, PS3, Roku, Samsung, Google TV, Sony, Western Digital, Netgear, iPad and more. adRise also has partnerships with the top video ad networks and DSPs. This ubiquity has created a powerful value proposition for Starz, The Outdoor Channel, Discovery’s Revision3, The Bold and the Beautiful, Warner Brother’s Flixster, Viki, and many other premium content owners who use adRise to earn high CPMs for IP-powered TV ads across the entire Connected TV ecosystem. It also enables advertisers to access the largest number of viewers on a global scale through methods that are highly targeted, interactive and measurable.

All videos and ads are streamed on adRise’s platforms and delivered seamlessly over Highwinds CDN to connected devices. The adRise platforms employ complex algorithms to target ads to relevant audiences and robust analytics to measure ad performance. Highwinds provides adRise with real-time analytics, including server-side statistics and regional data, used to monitor CDN performance, track consumption and bill downstream customers. adRise also leverages Highwinds’ real-time content management tools for instant upload and global propagation of new assets and instant purge of underperforming assets.

“adRise is a young and disruptive company that has accomplished amazing technological feats in the highly fragmented Connected TV content and ad space,” said Steve Miller, founder and CEO of Highwinds. “We’re a good fit for adRise because, as a startup in a rapidly growing industry, they really benefit from our high level of service, and they’re a good fit for us because we never simply plug our customers in and send them on their way. We relish new challenges, and we work closely with all customers to continually evaluate and optimize CDN performance.”

Highwinds and adRise engineers collaborated on an effort to reach optimal CDN response times and throughput, which are critical factors to adRise’s success. adRise also consulted with Highwinds on the challenges it had been facing with its peering and origin storage architectures, and Highwinds provided technical guidance and worked through solutions with the adRise team.

“We evaluated all of the top-tier CDNs that had experience in the delivery of rich media assets, and Highwinds outperformed them all,” said Farhad Massoudi, founder and CEO of adRise. “Perhaps more importantly, Highwinds out-serviced the other CDNs. Highwinds has many internal resources to help build and optimize solutions, and a transparent management team that gets involved. That hands-on, always-accessible level of service is what so clearly sets them apart from other CDNs.”
