Spain denies selling Hispasat stake

November 19, 2012

The Spanish government has denied a news report that it agreed to sell a 20 per cent stake in local satellite operator Hispasat to Abertis Infraestructuras for about €200 million before the end of the year.

The report, published in local financial daily Expansion, also said the government had decided to keep a 5 per cent stake in the satellite operator, while Abertis would increase its holding in Hispasat to 66.6 per cent.

In a press release, Hispasat’s Chairwoman Elena Pisonero “strongly” denied the story.
