1.7m active cards for Tivùsat in Italy

Italian DTH platform TivùSat has announced that the number of active smart cards reached 1.7 million in mid-November, which means that 5.6 per cent of Italian households are receiving its TV and radio services.

The Italian regions with the highest penetration level are Calabria, where 12 per cent of households have opted for TivùSat, followed by Liguria (11.5 per cent), Molise (11.2 per cent), Valle d’Aosta (9.8 per cent), Basilicata (9.7 per cent) and Sicily (8.4 per cent).

The free-to-air satellite platform currently carries 57 TV channels and 40 radio stations. Currently, over 31 certified TivùSat decoders are available on the local market, of which one fourth are HD compatible.
