Food Network orders up Red, Hot And Yummy for 2013 slate

Further strengthening its commitment to produce UK original content, Food Network UK has greenlit, Red, Hot And Yummyfor its 2013 programming slate. The observational documentary programme will showcase the challenging world of high end catering through the eyes of chef Nichola Smith, and will mark the first television project for Britain’s in-demand caterer.Food Network UK has ordered (8 x 30) episodes tentatively scheduled to premiere in March 2013 with production underway.

“Our newest commission will allow us to once again break a new local food talent into the television market,” said Nick Thorogood, Senior Vice President of Content and Marketing, Scripps EMEA. “We look forward to Red, Hot and Yummy being a great complement to our growing original production lineup which includes the likes of Andy Bates Street Feasts, Jenny Morris Cooks Morocco,Reza, Spice Prince of India, and the recently announced, Jonathan Phang’s Caribbean Cookbook.”

Chef Nichola Smith is the founder of the popular London-based catering company, Healthy Yummies. Using whole foods and quality British produce, Nichola builds her menus and recipes around sustainability, seasonality and ethical sourcing.

In her first television venture, Red, Hot and Yummy will follow chef Nichola into a relentless world of early mornings, demanding menus and a variety of odd jobs that is her usual business. From catering to 200 people at Paris fashion week to preparing a one-of-a-kind dish for acelebrity, the docu-series will follow the daily grind that in-demand chef Nichola Smith faces each and every day.

Red, Hot and Yummy will be produced by Britain’s Sharp Jack Media. Executive producers are Amanda Wilson and Elliot Johnson. Caroline Allward will serve as producer/director.

With a combination of bold, fun cooking shows and high energy entertainment appealing to men and women, Food Network UK offers top Food Network series like Cupcake Wars, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and Man v Food Nation, plus original content developed in local markets to provide viewers with a menu featuring some of the best food series from all over the world.
