DigiTAG relaunches to side with terrestrial broadcasting
December 14, 2012
DigiTAG, the Digital TV standards body, is relaunching with the new goal of promoting DTT broadcasting and protecting the spectrum it needs on a global basis.
Following the organisation’s General Assembly held at the EBU in Geneva, president Lieven Vermaele said that DigiTAG’s mission was now to protect broadcast spectrum whilst promoting and digital terrestrial services and products and developing DTT markets.
“We need a body to protect broadcasting and spectrum. Spectrum is a burning issue for the whole of the broadcasting industry and we need to ensure that there is cooperation and a coherent message from all stakeholders. We need a united front,” said Vermaele.
DigiTAG has also announced that it will become technology-neutral in order to best represent the entire terrestrial broadcast industry.
