Vodafone is taking a fresh look at taking over Germany’s largest cable operator, Kabel Deutschland, reports The Wall Street Journal, with any potential deal valued at $8.3 billion. The global cellco reportedly put its plans on hold late February, while in April, suggestions emerged that Liberty Global Inc was preparing its own takeover bid.
Earlier that month, the German cartel office blocked Kabel Deutschland’s attempt to take over fellow cabler Tele Columbus, citing competition concerns, which could also be an obstacle for Liberty Global’s plans.
