FOX Sports for Italy

June 18, 2013

football-podolskiFOX International Channels (FIC), News Corp’s international pay-TV unit, has confirmed it will launch FOX Sports in Italy this August. The new network will broadcast the recently secured Barclays Premier League, Spanish La Liga, French Ligue and FA Cup alongside a slate of signature news and sports talk shows.

The move follows FIC’s ongoing expansion into sports, which over the past two years included new launches of FOX Sports in Brazil and Japan, the acquisition of a majority stake in Eredivisie Live in the Netherlands and the conversion of Star-ESPN to FOX Sports throughout South East Asia. Under FIC’s stewardship, FOX Sports has swelled from 17 million households outside of the US in 2010 to over 64 million subscribers presently.

Hernan Lopez, President and CEO of FIC commented: “Our goal is to bring all the passion of FOX Sports to the most passionate sports fans around the world – and in this ranking, Italy comes high up on the list.”
