New QVCs launch

August 12, 2013

QVC Style and QVC Extra launch on Sky, Freesat, and connected TVs, on Freeview on 13th August 2013.  QVC Style, which previously broadcast as an interactive channel only available on Sky, offers the best of QVC’s fashion, fashion accessories and fashion jewellery, whilst QVC Extra will showcase the best of QVC’s entire product range.  Both channels will be on air 24 hours a day, seven days a week and QVC Extra will also be available as a night time service on QVC’s main channel.

QVC Style will broadcast one hour themed or branded shows featuring clips from the most recent live presentations on QVC UK, with some original content from behind the scenes and additional footage not available elsewhere.  QVC Extra’s one hour programmes will combine previously aired clips in themes or brands.  Both channels will have unique show graphics updated in real time as only products in stock are available for selection for the programmes. Additionally, QVC Beauty will be updated to incorporate unique and dynamically updating show graphics.

At the same time, the QVC Active service on Sky Interactive is being switched off.

“The launch of these two standalone channels follows the previous huge success of QVC Beauty which trod the same path,” commented Brian Farrelly, Director of Media Operations.  “These new specialist channels are a logical next step for us as they give viewers the choice of watching our main channel or a QVC channel featuring products of interest to them with another opportunity to see our best products in case they missed them the first time around.  The decision to switch off our interactive service on Sky Interactive was made as these channels are now available on more platforms, and our customers are increasingly using our mobile apps or the web as opposed to the interactive service to purchase items.”
