Canal+ boosted by FTA channels

VIVENDI PORTE SA PARTICIPATION DANS CANAL+ FRANCE À 75%French Pay-TV group Canal+ saws revenues reach €2.6 billion in the first six half of 2013, up 5.3 per cent compared to first half of 2012.

This increase was largely attributed to new FTA TV channels in France (D8 and D17) and the ‘n’ platform in Poland. Relaunched in October 2012, D8’s audience continued to grow, with a 3.4 per cent audience share by the end of June 2013.

As of June 30th, Canal+’s total subscription portfolio reached almost 14 million subscribers, with significant boosts coming from the African and Vietnamese markets.

In mainland France, ARPU grew by €1.6 to €49.5 compared to the first half of 2012. However, the number of subscribers decreased by 350,000 this year against 80,000 in the same period last year. Canal+’s EBITA was €449 million.
