Amazon’s LOVEFiLM fuels UK premiere of “Rush”

September 2, 2013

LOVEFiLM, an Amazon company, is partnering once again with film distributor STUDIOCANAL to host the UK premiere of “RUSH”.

The event will take place this evening (September 2nd) at the Odeon Leicester Square where guests will be invited to immerse themselves in the heady world of Formula One in director Ron Howard’s glamorous depiction of the golden age of motor racing.

LOVEFiLM will screen an exclusive and specially created themed advertisement before the screening to mark the occasion.

“RUSH” follows James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) through the 1976 Formula One season and the intense rivalry between himself and his main adversary Niki Lauda. The story reveals how Lauda came face-to-face with death when his vehicle burst into flames after a collision. Despite suffering horrific burns (including the loss of his eyelids), Lauda chose to return to the racing circuit just six weeks later to compete with his English rival, Hunt.

The film, from two-time Academy Award® winner Ron Howard (“A Beautiful Mind”, “Frost/Nixon”) and fellow two-time Academy Award® nominee, writer Peter Morgan (“Frost/Nixon”, “The Queen”), features an ensemble of top talent that as well as Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) includes Daniel Brühl (“Inglourious Basterds”), Olivia Wilde (“Tron: Legacy”) and Natalie Dormer (“Game of Thrones”), all of whom will be in attendance tonight.

Helen Cowley, LOVEFiLM editor, comments:”We are thrilled to be teaming up with STUDIOCANAL once again to premiere “RUSH” in London. Howard is an incredible director and has a real talent for creating nail-biting drama and excitement from real life source material.”

The UK premiere of “RUSH” is in association with McLaren, Ferragamo, Carrera and Franklin and Marshall.
