Lancy sells cable network to upc

upc_cablecomThe Geneva municipality of Lancy has sold its 55 per cent share in Télélancy SA to upc cablecom. The cable network in Lancy is now owned wholly by upc cablecom, as the company already held a 45 per cent share in Télélancy SA.

In the past 18 months, upc cablecom has already taken over the cable networks Télémeyrin SA and Télécarouge SA in French-speaking Switzerland, and entered into a purchase agreement for the complete takeover of 022 Télégenève SA – naxoo with the city of Geneva. Now, upc cablecom is investing again in French-speaking Switzerland and enhancing its market position in this part of the country further. The third largest Geneva municipality of Lancy has also decided to sell 55 per cent of its own cable network with 9,500 households to upc cablecom.

François Lance, mayor of Lancy, commented: “Our cable network is now in the hands of professionals who are in a position to develop it further under the best possible conditions.”
