Quiptel, a provider of next generation Internet TV software platforms, has announced the general availability of the Quiptel Media Platform, (QMP) 3.0, an end-to–end suite of software modules that enable broadcast quality IPTV, OTT, On-Demand and Catch Up TV services over unmanaged and managed networks.

The Quiptel Media Platform provides operators, content providers and broadcasters with an intelligent adaptive streaming platform that dramatically reduces bandwidth availability requirements whilst consistently delivering high quality video content to customers, irrespective of device, hardware or network. QMP is available as white-label managed service or via traditional software licensing.

Peter Do, Chief Technology Officer and founder, said that the launch of QMP offers operators, content owners and broadcasters alike with a comprehensive end-to-end media delivery solution that is highly scalable as an on-demand architecture. “It provides a greater than 50 per cent capex and opex saving for service providers over traditional IPTV systems, enabling a quicker time to market while expressly focusing on quality of service video delivery.”

Richard Baker, acting Chief Executive Officer, told advanced-television.com that the service was not an online platform or business, and was not seeking to become an OTT player itself. “We’re looking at the whole content value delivery chain … it’s not for retail customers.”

Quiptel’s patented technology achieves ‘broadcast-like’ HD and SD video streaming over the open Internet, by making the most of the available bandwidth, maintaining consistent data flow by intelligent network routing and by use of state of the art encoding and bitrate adaptation.

The Quiptel Media Platform consists of various modules, which when combined provide an end-to- end solution for the effective control and management of media, efficient content delivery and comprehensive customer management QMP has built in QFlow, QNav, QRouter patented core technologies and intelligent Internet traffic management which is a optimising and routing technology specifically designed for delivering high quality video across managed and unmanaged mobile and broadband networks across multiple devices.

QMP software players are available on Android/iOS/Linux devices, Smart TV and PC client, which the company says will enable content owners, new media operators and broadcasters to run a profitable next generation internet television business.
