Megacable OnDemand with Cisco

November 7, 2013

In order to offer new experiences to its customers, Mexican pay-TV company Megacable, has launched its “Megacable OnDemand” service based on the Cisco Videoscape Unity service delivery platform.

Megacable is the first service provider delivering an OTT service in Latin America. Available immediately, Megacable’s 2,200,000 cable subscribers will have access to the Megacable OnDemand platform that will allow them to enjoy their favorite TV programmes and live channels wherever they are, whenever they want, using any device in their home.

Megacable OnDemand costs 75 pesos per month ($6) with unlimited access to OnDemand content with over 3,000 hours of movies and a wide variety of TV series.

The TV Everywhere solution architecture is based on the Cisco Videoscape Distribution Suite for Internet Streaming (VDS-IS) and the Cisco Videoscape Acquisition Suite. This technology will help Megacable offer its customers broad access to VoD, as well as exclusive live programmes, accessible through PCs, Macs, or iOS or Android devices.
