Refocus for Harris Broadcast

November 7, 2013

By Chris Forrester

Harris Broadcast, one of the major suppliers and system integrators for the broadcast industry, has restructured in readiness for “transformational” industry changes.

In a message to clients, agents and the media, recently appointed (July 2013) CEO Charlie Vogt says he has spent his first 100 days talking and immersing himself with Harris’ business partners. “Our industry is poised to undergo transformational change as baseband is increasingly carried on IP, business management tools move to the cloud, and playout and networking solutions benefit from virtualisation and both linear and nonlinear/VoD delivered everywhere.”

“These technology shifts and new business models require strategic partnerships with  market-leading technology and service companies — companies with financial strength to invest in required innovation and the global scale and professional services to deliver the expertise and turnkey solutions. We have the balance sheet, business acumen, intellectual property and a renewed customer-first culture. We have nearly 2,000 employee resources, invest more than $80 million dollars in research and development annually, have expert service personnel spanning 140 countries and are laser focused on our customer’s end-to-end workflow.”

Harris Broadcast is now owned by the Gores Group.
