BT offers YouView to Plusnet customers
November 22, 2013
BT has revealed it will offer its Plusnet broadband customers a new YouView-based TV service.
The telco has been left behind as TalkTalk signed 500,000 YouView subscribers while BT concentrates on BT Sport.
Gavin Patterson, BT CEO has said broadband providers must be in the TV business and confirmed the offer from its Plusnet subsidiary. Customers will be able to get the smart TV service along with broadband and home phone calls as part of a bundle.
Plusnet already offers BT Sport at half price for customers with Sky TV subscriptions. BT broadband customers can access the sports channels in standard definition for no extra cost either as part of the BT TV service, or through a Sky STB.
BT bought Plusnet in 2004 though it still operates independently.
