KD’s von Hammerstein to resign

hammersteinDr Adrian von Hammerstein is to resign from his position as Chief Executive Officer of cable MSO Kabel Deutschland at the end of March 2014. Dr Manuel Cubero will succeed as the company’s CEO effective April 1st 2014. Cubero currently serves as Chief Operating Officer and Deputy CEO. Further management changes will see Gerhard Mack, Director of the group‘s Technical Operations, join the Management Board as new Chief Operating Officer.

The change in the Management Board was announced by the Chairman of Kabel Deutschland‘s Supervisory Board, Philipp Humm.

“Kabel Deutschland is very well positioned in the market. Following the takeover by Vodafone, the company is now set to enter into a new and exciting phase of its development. This is the right time for a successful management transition. I am pleased – and it underlines the strength of our management team – that both Manuel Cubero and Gerhard Mack come from inside the company,” said von Hammerstein.

Jens Schulte-Bockum, Member of the Supervisory Board and CEO of Vodafone Deutschland, said the company very much regretted von Hammerstein’s decision, but confirmed its commitment to continuing the successful growth story established by Kabel Deutschland under his leadership. “Continuity of the proven management team is essential for this. With Manuel Cubero, an experienced executive takes charge, who in his previous positions has contributed significantly to the development of the company and enjoys an excellent standing in our industry. Similarly, Gerhard Mack, with his wide experience in network operations and customer service, is an ideal appointment as Chief Operating Officer on the Management Board.”

Cubero has been with the Company for ten years. Initially he headed the cable TV and content product unit. In 2006, the Internet and phone product unit was added to his responsibilities. In 2007, he additionally took charge of Marketing and Sales and was promoted Chief Commercial Officer. Since 2009, he has held the position of Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for network build-out, maintenance and operations, customer service, IT, sales and content.

Mack joined Kabel Deutschland in 2006 as head of the Internet and phone product unit. Since 2007, he has been responsible for the Technical Operations division, which covers build-out, maintenance and operation of the network as well as technical customer service. He previously worked for Alcatel SEL where he headed the Optical Networks division as general manager.
