CenturyLink boosts Prism TV availability

January 6, 2014

As part of its ongoing commitment to offer advanced services to its Prism TV customers, CenturyLink, the US’s third largest triple-play operator, has launched version 3.0 of its Prism TV app. This enhanced app allows customers to view TV and video on demand content wherever they are, including up to 25 live TV channels outside of the home and 100 live channels within the home.

Customers can view content that corresponds with their Prism TV programming package through mobile apps on their iOS, Android and Kindle devices. Channels such as Fox News, Universal Sports, Bloomberg, Sony Movie Channel, Starz and 20 additional channels can now be streamed live anywhere from a mobile device. In addition, content from the Hallmark Channel and NBCUniversal can also be conveniently viewed through the app’s Prism On Demand feature, and, in February, customers can watch segments of the 2014 Winter Olympics through On Demand.

“We are pleased with the enhanced features that our customers get with version 3.0 of our Prism TV app,” said Shirish Lal, CenturyLink senior vice president of marketing. “Customers will enjoy the many usability enhancements, the significant expansion in live TV channels in and out of the home and future video on demand content additions.”

Customers also have the convenience of using the Prism TV app to navigate through various programmes and schedule Whole Home DVR recordings from anywhere. Their viewing choices can also be integrated with social media by using the app on Apple’s iPhone, iPad and Google Android devices to post messages on Facebook and Twitter about what they’re watching.

The use of the Prism TV app is free for Prism TV customers and the number of available channels inside and outside of the home varies based on the programming package and the community where the subscriber resides. Prism Preferred and Prism Premium packages will offer the most live content choices out of the home.

Prism TV app is powered by Azuki Systems, the core platform provider for CenturyLink’s TV Everywhere service. CenturyLink will continue to work with its programming partners to offer customers additional programming choices on the app.

Prism TV, currently available in 12 markets including Las Vegas, Tallahassee, Phoenix and Colorado Springs, is delivered through CenturyLink’s fibre optic network. In addition to the Prism TV app, customers can consume content on the CenturyLink.net web portal and various programmer-branded websites and apps.
