upc cablecom adds another cable network

January 17, 2014

Following various acquisitions in French-speaking Switzerland – including Télécarouge SA and Télélancy SA – upc cablecom is now taking over the cable network in Ligerz in the canton of Bern. This has been in private hands up to now and belonged to Garo Immobilien AG in Brügg. The purchase agreement for the complete takeover was concluded in recent weeks. It applies immediately and with retroactive effect from January 1st 2014. Switzerland’s largest provider of TV and the country’s fastest Internet has already been providing all of its digital products (digital TV, Internet, telephony) to the municipality on the shore of Lake Biel for many years. Now Willy Garo, owner of Garo Immobilien AG, has decided to transfer the cable network completely to upc cablecom.

Some 200 customers in the municipality with an HD cable connection are affected by the acquisition. According to Garo, nothing will change for them. He says the sale is the right decision: “I am happy to have found the best solution for our customers together with upc cablecom, as this means they will be able to benefit from first-rate products and services for many years to come.”
