The multi-screen approach by viewers is intensifying in Spain with the availability of different connected devices and platforms.

This is the main conclusion of Telefonica´s annual report about the Information Society which highlights that viewers have more and more access to TV content through mobile devices, with 67 per cent of smart users (26 million of smartphones in Spain) viewing TV content through their phones and 49 per cent through their tablets. According to the report, Spaniards check (to read e-mails, have access to content…) their smartphones 150 times a day on average

24 per cent of users watch TV through connected TV sets, up 33 per cent year-on-year, with TV channels registering a significant growth in their audience to their online TV channels. Mediaset leads the group with 18.5 million surfers, up 22.5 per cent followed by RTVE with 15 million surfers.

For feature films, Spaniards prefer TV (51 per cent) whereas in case of short video or TV content, they prefer other devices such as the smartphone.

The development of new networks and services (4G) will also transform the TV scene, according to the report, with the country being covered by 4G technology that will reach 75 per cent of the population by 2015.
