Italy DTT frequency auction next week
January 29, 2014
From Branislav Pekic in Rome
Italy will call a tender for the auction of DTT frequencies next week.
The news was announced by Antonio Catricala, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, on the sidelines of a workshop on online copyright in Rome.
Catricala also said that leading Italian broadcasters RAI, Mediaset and Telecom Italia Media would be excluded from the auction. The tender regulations will include “several small modifications” requested by the European Union. He also expressed hope that the auction could be completed by the end of 2014.
It is expected that three national DTT multiplexes will be made available, one in the VHF band and two in the UHF band.
