March 3, 2014

Canal+ Group has confirmed the acquisition of a majority stake in Studio Bagel, a network of comedy channels on YouTube in France.

Created in 2012, Studio Bagel regroups some of the most popular talents on YouTube and produces much-followed channels, such as Studio Bagel, Les Tutos and Le Dezapping. Overall, its channels tally nearly six million subscribers and more than 40 million viewed videos each month.

Lorenzo Benedetti, founder and CEO of Studio Bagel, will continue to run and grow the company within Canal+ OTT, the new Canal+ Group web and mobile division.

Benedetti commented: “We are very excited about this deal, which marks an important step in our development. After a successful start, Studio Bagel was looking for ways to provide additional means to its numerous talents, as well as new opportunities to showcase their work in innovative TV or movie formats.”
