Hungary pay-TV subs still growing

Hungary’s pay-TV operators experienced steady growth during last year, and this has extended into January. According to local regulator NMHH the pay-TV sector saw net growth in January of some 16,000 subscribers, taking the total to 3.048 million (3.032m at Dec 31st 2013).
Hungary’s cable and IPTV wired services saw the largest growth, up 18,000 (to 2.06m) of which 987,000 remain in analogue (and up 3,000 on the previous month) and 1.005 million are served with digital transmissions.
DTH subscribers reached 919,842, and have fallen from December’s 920,945.
The market as a whole saw a growth in digital subscribers of some 13,000 in January.
UPC remains market leader with a 26.3 per cent market share, and just ahead of Magyar Telekom’s T-Home with 23.7 per cent, and Digi with 22.7 per cent.
