Satellite operator Thaicom is starting its DTT re-transmissions today (April 1st) and in accordance with the national ‘must carry’ rules set by Thailand’s Broadcasting & Telecoms Commission (NBTC). Free-to-air DTT signals will now also be carried by Thaicom’s satellite transmissions..

“Thaicom recognises that this is an important step for Thailand’s broadcasting industry, and we are well-prepared for this new change,” said Paiboon Panuwattanawong, CTO of Thaicom. “We are supporting growth of the broadcasting industry to ensure smooth transition from analogue to digital.”

Thaicom is also modifying its set-top boxes to carry the newly awarded channel positions, initially for C-Band and then for Ku-band subscribers.
