Vudu, Rdio, Crackle join US Chromecast

April 1, 2014

vuduGoogle’s Chromecast has added support for a trio of new apps in the US, namely movie-streaming Vudu, music player Rdio, and Sony-owned TV library Crackle.

Owners of Chromecast can access the apps through the $35 dongle immediately via an Android or iOS device, as well as via Google Chrome on a PC.

The news comes as competition in the streaming-media device market is growing, chasing the momentum in demand for watching online video. Amazon is widely expected to release its own such device later this week, going up against not only Chromecast but also Apple TV and Roku.
