Belgacom bids for Belgian football

May 19, 2014

football-belgiumBelgacom has made a bid for the broadcasting rights to Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League football.  The telco said it is backing a non-exclusive model in order to make “football for everyone”.

“Belgacom submitted an offer to the Pro League on Thursday 15 May. The main reasons for doing so were to ensure the neutrality of the football offering and the offering’s accessibility to the highest number of supporters,” it said in a statement. “Having submitted its tender for the TV rights to the Jupiler Pro League for the next three seasons, Belgacom’s aim is therefore to continue to support all stakeholders in Belgian football by ensuring long-term prosperity and greater visibility to the Pro League and the clubs,” said Belgacom.
