Extant debut sets streaming record

July 14, 2014

extantMystery thriller Extant has become Amazon Prime Instant Video’s most successful launch ever – attracting three times more streams on release day than the first episode of any previous show on the service

Streams for Extant were three times higher than any other opening episode of a TV show in the history of the UK movie and TV streaming service.

The first day viewing figures for episode one of Extant exceeded first day viewing figures for Season 2 of Amazon Prime Instant Video’s popular flagship show Vikings.

Russell Morris, Marketing and Merchandising Director, Amazon Prime Instant Video, described Extant as “a new frontier” for the service, suggesting that with its Hollywood pedigree and star studded cast, the exclusive marked its commitment to offering customers access to some of the most anticipated shows in the world. “With première figures outstripping our hugely popular exclusive show Vikings, Extant looks set to be the television event of the summer.”

The second episode of Extant will be available from 17th July exclusively in the UK through Amazon Prime Instant Video – just hours after it débuts on CBS in the US. New episodes will be available to stream each week, one day after their US broadcast, in high definition and on over 400 devices.
