Online movie revenues set to increase

The online movie market is set to evolve into a key distribution channel according to a report from Research and Markets.
Consumers pay to access online movies using a range of payment models including Electronic Sell Through (EST) / Download To Own (DTO); Online Rental; or Online Subscription Services / Subscription VoD (SVoD).
Looking at the period from 2014 to 2018, revenue earned by movie producers worldwide from online and offline distribution is forecast to increase from $62.7 billion to $76.4 billion, or by nearly 18 per cent. Revenues derived from online distribution will increase from 5.6 per cent of total revenues in 2014 to 16.6 per cent in 2018.
